Legal Requirements :
Getting legally married in Costa Rica as a Canadian citizen is relatively straightforward. Here’s what you need to know:
No residency is required.
Both parties must have valid passports.
You’ll need to fill out a marriage information form and legal affidavits in advance.
A local lawyer or officiant registered with the Supreme Court of Costa Rica must perform the ceremony.
After the ceremony, your marriage is registered with the Costa Rican Civil Registry, and you will receive a marriage certificate.
Your certificate will be authenticated and translated, then sent to you in Canada.
The process typically takes 6-12 weeks to finalize and receive your documents.
Most destination wedding planners or resort coordinators in Costa Rica assist with these legal requirements to streamline the process.
The following notes are not comprehensive and are intended as a guide only. Before planning your wedding in Cuba we strongly advise you to contact the Cuban embassy in your home country or your country's embassy in Cuba to obtain up-to-date legal requirements.
Most couples decide to hold a symbolic celebration abroad in lieu of a legal ceremony in your destination. Symbolic ceremonies allow you to exchange vows in paradise and take care of the legal formalities at home (either before or after your trip).
Budget :
